Located strategically between Perdana Park and Plaza Tanjung Aru along Jalan Mat Salleh, the Sabah State Library’s Tanjung Aru branch stands out as a modern architectural landmark in Kota Kinabalu. Officially opened to the public on 1 April 2019, the library was established as part of the Sabah state government’s broader initiative to promote literacy and lifelong learning among local communities.

This public library attracts a diverse crowd daily—including school children, university students, and working adults—seeking a quiet, resource-rich space for study, reading, or research. With an estimated footfall exceeding 100 visitors on weekdays and even higher numbers on weekends, the facility is a bustling hub for knowledge seekers across East Malaysia.

In support of this high-traffic environment, Niro Ceramic Group was engaged to contribute to the library’s flooring design. After careful consultation, a large-format tile from Niro Granite’s Marmo collection, was selected. The tile’s light-toned, matt finish was chosen for its aesthetic neutrality and slip resistance, making it ideal for busy public interiors. Polished tile accents were also incorporated to enhance the spatial flow of the main entrance and walkways.

Beyond its functional benefits, the tile range is EPD-certified (Environmental Product Declaration)—aligning with the state’s emphasis on sustainability and eco-conscious development. This project reflects a blend of design, durability, and environmental responsibility, making it a fitting addition to one of Sabah’s most inspiring public spaces.
